Thank you for visiting my website.

I am Rohit Farmer, PhD from India currently living in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. Starting from February 2018 I am working as a postdoctoral research associate with S. Joshua Swamidass, MD, PhD at the Laboratory and Genomic Medicine Division of the Washington University in St. Louis. Before moving to USA I worked as an assistant professor at the Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences, India. I consider myself an educationist in the making with a sound background in research.

I did my PhD from the University of Birmingham, UK with Peter J. Winn, PhD where I worked on “Modelling polyketide synthases and related macromolecular complexes”. My past research interests include understanding protein structure-function relationship, modelling large macromolecular complexes, molecular dynamics simulations and antibiotic synthesis (see Research). During my postdoctoral fellowship I am extending my expertise in the rapidly developing field of Deep Learning, a new computational technique, to solve medically relevant problems in chemistry, biology and medicine. More specifically, I am working on utilizing deep learning techniques in understanding the effect of socio economic status and human pathology in early life adversity (ELA) among children. Alongside this work, I am also working on projects that predict how drugs are “bio-activated” into toxic molecules.

I am fond of technology, photography, reading and writing, and traveling. My latest interests are learning project management skills, spinoffs and startups, computer security, and anonymity over the internet.
